I’m so excited to share my first-ever quilt pattern with you all! This one’s really close to my heart — I finished the quilt top in just two days (I was so excited and curious to see how it would turn out!), and I absolutely loved how the three-color combo came together. The mix of white, black, and yellow gives it such a bold, modern quilt vibe without feeling too loud. You’ll see a lot more Cozy Quilt Studio patterns using similar color combinations — I just love the balance they create.

You can find the Diamond Glow Pattern in the The Cozy Quilt Studio Shop.

A Flexible Beginner Quilt Pattern: Works with Solids, Prints, or Scraps

One thing that makes this quilt even more fun is how flexible it is. Whether you prefer solids or prints, it works beautifully either way. You can easily make it your own with your favourite fabrics — even scraps or leftover pieces — without stressing about colours not matching or the quilt looking messy.

Easy Construction: A Quick, No-Trim HST Quilt Pattern

One of the things I love most about this quilt is how simple the construction is. It’s made entirely from half-square triangles (HSTs), and the best part is that they require no trimming. The whole project comes together quickly and stays clean—perfect if you want a relaxing, easy weekend quilt.

What You’ll Get in the Pattern

The Diamond Glow Quilt Pattern comes as an easy-to-follow PDF and includes:

  • Fabric requirements for all sizes
  • Detailed cutting instructions
  • Step-by-step HST tutorials (four-at-a-time + two-at-a-time)
  • Clear assembly diagrams
  • Pressing + layout guidance
  • Coloring sheet to plan your palette
  • Beginner-friendly language with simple explanations
  • Printable charts for quick reference

Everything is laid out cleanly so you can follow along at your own pace — whether this is your first quilt or your tenth.

Quilting on Singer Heavy Duty 4423

I decided to quilt this one myself on my Singer Heavy Duty since I really wanted to try machine quilting for the first time. I kept things simple and went with diagonal quilting lines — they give HST quilts such a clean, modern look.

I marked my lines using a hera marker to keep everything straight, then quilted at a steady angle across the blocks. Because the machine has a smaller throat space, moving a larger quilt around was definitely a bit tricky, but totally manageable with some patience. If you’re new to quilting on a domestic machine, I’d suggest practising on a smaller sample quilt first — it makes a big difference in getting comfortable.

I basted the quilt with spray and safety pins, which worked well for this project. I’m about halfway through the quilting now and learning as I go, but honestly, the little wobbles don’t bother me. Once the quilt is finished, they blend right in. I’ll share the final quilt photos once I’m done!
